PLC splitters and FTTH boxes
PLC splitters in box and cassette form, plus optical termination boxes (OTBs) and junction boxes for FTTH builds.

Listed items
To quote: split ratio, connector, pigtail length, and box, LGX cassette or steel tube. For OTBs, the port count and adapter type.
Split ratio and loss
A splitter divides the light from one input fiber across its outputs, so each output carries a fraction of the power. The theoretical loss of a 1×N split is 10 × log10(N) dB. Real splitters lose a little more than that, so use the maximum on the datasheet when you plan a link budget.
| Split | Theoretical loss |
|---|---|
| 1×2 | 3.0 dB |
| 1×4 | 6.0 dB |
| 1×8 | 9.0 dB |
| 1×16 | 12.0 dB |
| 1×32 | 15.1 dB |
| 1×64 | 18.1 dB |
Box, cassette or steel tube
- ABS box: the splitter sits in a small plastic box with pigtails, connectorised or bare, on the input and outputs. It sits in closures, cabinets and distribution boxes.
- LGX cassette: the splitter sits in a cassette with adapters on the front, for shelves and chassis that take LGX-size modules.
- Steel tube: a bare splitter in a small steel tube, spliced inside a joint closure or splice tray.
OTBs and junction boxes
An optical termination box (OTB) is a small wall-mounted box where a drop cable ends, at the customer's premises or on a building floor. It holds the splices or fast connectors and one or more adapters, usually SC/APC, and a patch cord runs from an adapter to the ONT. A junction box joins and distributes fibers at a pole, a building riser or a street cabinet.
How to order
- For splitters, give the split ratio and the form: box, LGX cassette or steel tube.
- Give the connector on the pigtails, such as SC/APC, and the pigtail length.
- For OTBs and junction boxes, give the port count and adapter type.
- Send the quantities and delivery city on WhatsApp or through the quote form below.
Common questions
How much loss does a 1×8 splitter add?
About 9 dB in theory. A real 1×8 PLC splitter adds a little more, so use its datasheet maximum in the link budget.
PLC or FBT splitter?
PLC splitters split evenly across wavelengths and stay compact at high counts such as 1×16 and 1×32. FBT splitters cost less at low counts such as 1×2, but their split varies with wavelength.
Why do FTTH networks use SC/APC?
The angled APC end-face keeps reflections low, which PON systems need. See UPC vs APC.
